Grade them carefully

It took a lot of effort, but by spending the weekend holed up in your apartment, canceling plans to meet your fellow grad-buddies for drinks, neglecting your own research, and sacrificing all knowledge of primetime television and world events, you get every student's lab report graded in time for the next lab session.

After class, a student demands you restore the one-tenth of a point you took off for his explanation of "doing the thing to the thing with the other thing," claiming that anyone with half a brain should know exactly what he meant.
